USC Viterbi School of Engineering

Library Resources

  • Engineering Subject Guide  -  This web page is an excellent introduction to the engineering-oriented online research resources available through the USC Libraries.
  • Online Tutorials  - The USC Libraries offer numerous online tutorials to assist users in their research.  Tutorials such as Research 101 teach basic information literacy concepts and skills, including how to select a topic, develop a research question, and evaluate information sources.
  • Library Proxy Server  -  All USC Library licensed electronic resource requests are handled through this remote-access portal. Your username is the section of your USC email address that appears before the @usc.edu. The password is the same one you created when you activated your computer account. With the proxy server, distance students enjoy the same secure, fast access as anyone working from the USC campus. USC Libraries resources now include more than 35,000 electronic journals and databases.
  • Ask a Librarian  -  This online chat service is available 24/7. However, on Mondays ( 7-9 pm, Pacific time) and Wednesdays (6-8 pm, Pacific time) librarians from the USC Science & Engineering Library are available to answer your research and assignment questions in real time.
  • ILLIAD (Document Delivery)  -  Through this service, distance students have access to USC-owned journals, books, and other materials. These documents are scanned and posted on our server for easy patron access. Currently, there is no charge or fee for using this service.
